Is your child interested in earning money as a referee?
by posted 08/12/2019

Dear Parents,

Pembroke Youth Soccer (and other youth soccer organizations on the south shore) are ALWAYS looking for referees.

If your child plays soccer and is interested in earning money, becoming a soccer referee (Grade 8 level) is the perfect combination for them.

For your convenience, here is a link to the Massachusetts State Referee Committee website ishttps://www.massref.net/ [massref.net].

To see course dates, please click here à Course dates and information [massref.net]

Steps to register for a referee course:

Step 1                   Create an account on the MSRC database [massref.net] (use this link)

Step 2                   Enroll in a course [massref.net] (course dates and information)

Step 3                   Attend the course

Below is some information about what it means to be a Grade 8 Referee.

Grade 8 Referees: Grade 8 is the entry level for new referees aged 14 and older. Once certified, these referees can expect to be working competitive or recreational games in Youth or Adult Leagues and Tournaments depending on the age of the referee.

As referees advance to higher grades they are required to demonstrate their continued qualification through "maintenance" assessments and sustained high level competition experience.

ALL REFEREES MUST ATTEND ANNUAL RECERTIFICATION TO MAINTAIN THEIR CURRENT GRADE

Approximately 90% of all referees in Massachusetts are Grade 8.

PYS Summer Skills Clinics

Pembroke Youth Soccer is excited to announce that it will be providing Summer Skills Clinics to provide offseason development opportunities for both PYS players and coaches.

Coaches from South Shore Select Soccer in Hingham, one of the top youth club soccer programs in the country, will be providing Summer Skills Clinics for PYS players entering grades 2 through 7 on Tuesday evenings beginning Tuesday, July 16, and running through Tuesday, August 20 (7/16, 7/23, 7/30, 8/6, 8/13, 8/20).

  Boys and Girls entering grades 2 – 4 (5:30pm – 6:45pm)

  Boys and Girls entering grades 5 – 7 (6:45pm – 8:00pm)

Location: Hobomock Fields

The clinics will focus heavily on Ball Mastery concepts, with players touching the ball hundreds of times each week and will focus on developing both feet while focusing on keeping the sessions high-energy and fun.

The cost for all 6 sessions for PYS players is $64.00

In addition to offering these clinics to PYS players, all PYS coaches are invited to participate in these training sessions.  These sessions will be free, voluntary, and interactive and will allow PYS coaches to experience what a training session feels like from a player’s perspective. Coaches just need to arrive ready to participate and excited to learn.

You can register at the same time you register your player(s) to play.

Spots are limited, so REGISTER NOW

Your player will have fun with their friends, improve their game, be ready for the Fall Season….and you can’t get a babysitter this cheap!!

If you have any questions, contact Kevin Williams ( )
